Karie Geyer
PASTOR
Reverend Karie Geyer serves as a pastor at First Lutheran in Claire City, Faith Lutheran in New Effington and Our Savior’s in Veblen. She is in her First Call as a pastor. Karie’s background is in Communications, having held marketing positions in both corporate and nonprofit originations. Karie received her Masters of Divinity from Sioux Falls Seminary/Luther House of Study in 2021 and is affiliated with Luther Seminary. She has a Masters in Communications Studies and Theatre from South Dakota State University and a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Communications/Public Relations from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN. In addition to her work as a pastor, Karie is an advocate for community and economic development.
Karie enjoys running, walking, cooking, spending time at the lake or pool, watching movies at home with family, traveling and dining at restaurants. She lives in Veblen, SD along with her husband David, daughter Mahree and son Raymond.
VICAR
Pat Schubert
Pat Schubert serves as a vicar at First Lutheran in Claire City, Faith Lutheran in New Effington, Our Savior’s in Veblen, and Bergen in Lidgerwood, ND. She is a TEEM student (Theological Education for Emerging Ministers) at Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, IA, Pat is about halfway through her education and plans to be ordained in 2024. Her first career was as a 4th grade teacher for the Sisseton School District for 34 years. She graduated in 1985 from College in Moorhead, MN with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. Pat worked at Valley View Country Club for about 12 years as a cook, waitress, and manager for the past four years.
Pat’s husband Cal retired from teaching high school Government and Psychology, and they have three children. Karyn & husband Ben live in Madison, WI, Ally is in her 4th year as a middle school Geometry teacher in Milbank, SD, and Adam is a member of the Army National Guard and works for Valley Queen in Milbank.
Pat’s hobbies include singing, fishing, sports of any kind, and spending time in nature. Pat is outgoing and loves visiting with people.
